Impact Story to multiply the Impact

Expanding the reach of quality Vaccine Delivery for EVERYONE at their Door Step

Information and time makes a difference when it comes to supply chain management and when it comes in public health it makes huge difference as every digit or number is equal to life.
People who deal with child health, specially dealing with the population those are socially and economically marginalized and comes under typically from extremely rural background. Rural population who are mostly away from the main stream but most potential group for the GDP of the country & when it comes about child health, we need to act before onset of the diseases.
Routine Immunization is one the most effective and efficient way to add value in life of future of country i.e., child health. It reduces the mortality as well as also deals with morbidity.
Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN) is a project to support the Routine immunization & CCH to manage the vaccine storage and supply effectively and efficiently without changing who they are. eVIN- a joint initiative of UNDP, GoI & GoB to strengthen supply chain management of vaccine by using technology. Its aim to bring values and quality in work and deliver quality vaccines in right quantity at right place till the last child with minimum wastage.

What: Access to quality vaccination for All

eVIN an initiative that use mobile, app, temperature logger and communication technologies to transform immunization vaccine delivery at the right place in right quantity in recommended temperature.

                          How: Enabling timely, cost-effective collaboration

Sushama Kumari and Babita Kumari (Cold Chain Handler  & Additional Cold Chain Handler ) of remotest and toughest Block of the District Gaya i.e, more than 115 km away from District headquarter, limited communication and worst part is it is Naxal affected as well as not very much well connected through road during rainy season.
As we know Dumariya having limited accessibility from headquarter of the district as well as many more challenges as it is naxal affected area but two ladies (symbol of power, education & wealth) Sushma & Babita got the opportunity for the management of vaccine storage and safety at their cold chain point (CCP). At the time of eVIN training Team SB (Sushama & Babita) were initially nervous as smart phone was new device which they saw but never used so, it was their biggest hurdle but after training their faces were full of confidence.
SB were so much active from beginning and team UNDP also took Dumariya on priority as almost every one shared their view- “agar Dumariya me implement ho gaya tab Gaya me ho jayega”.(if this will be successful in Dumariya, will be successful in entire District Gaya)
After that our eVIN’s journey has been started in Dumariya along with District and our team SB but after 2 months we were started to get very positive response from entire Gaya district even from Dumariya.
Sushma - “ab vaccine khatam hone se pahle hi MOIC sir ko bhi call aane lagta hai aur hum log bhi stock daily dekh lete hai mobile se, roj gin na nahi padta”(now vaccine availability follow up is getting done from all level and we need not to count vaccine every day to know vaccine availability status)
During one year of journey of eVIN Team SB faced many challenges too like – technical issue with mobile, network issue with network but every time they came with solution of those problem and took their work as priority as it is related to life of the kids and pregnant ladies.

                                                         Impact Multiplied

Connecting healthcare providers breaks down barriers to quality healthcare by increasing efficiency and efficiency by making data available at time.
Stock availability impact has been boost the confidence of Team SB as well as MOIC,BHM those were primary concern with vaccine availability and their quality and result of that is Temperature logger installation is fully facilitated by MOIC and BHM himself.
MOIC – during sharing his experience – "Logger se temperature ka SMS to aa hi jata hai sath hi sath electricity ka bhi SMS aa jata hai so corrective easures lena mere liye ab assan ho gaya hai” aur Sushma and Babita to ek din electricity jaane ka SMS dekh kar raat ko bhi hospital aayi thi ki mera vaccine sahi rahe. eVIN kebal technology nahi hai balki aap log sensitise bhi kiye hai."

Children & pregnant ladies benefit from all time vaccine availability & eVIN

As now vaccine availability in Block has been improved  and now every time all session site almost every time getting the vaccines in right quantity as per their need so that not a single beneficiary get disappointed after reaching on session site.
Surely this is helping us to increase the immunization coverage which is ultimately lead to healthy society.
Sushma and Babita is now leading the eVIN and vaccine supply chain management for quality supply and maintenance from front and they feel proud and happy while sharing this with us (UNDP) and shared – “aap log bahut hi aaram se smart phone chalana sikha diye, aur aaj dekiye aap log k karan kaam bhi accha kar rahe hai”.(you people taught very easily, how to handle smartphone and today because of that we are working very well)
Still Many Miles to go - "Yatra ke es padav par ye nanha deepak sochne ko majboor hai, manjil abhi mili nahi wo to bahut door hai "
